La Mala represents the ultimate expression of minerality in the Atauta Valley. It offers a perfect balance between the delicacy of tannins from sandy soils and the power contributed by the clay before the roots reach the limestone bedrock.

0.70 ha divided into 9 micro-parcels on a north-facing slope at 950 metres.

The Process
Hand-harvested. Carefully sorted. Aged 19 months in French oak.
La Mala is crafted from 140-year-old ungrafted Tinto Fino vines grown across nine micro-parcels in the Atauta Valley. The grapes are hand-harvested, double sorted and vinified in open stainless-steel vats before ageing for 19 months in French oak barrels.
